Mental Meditation
1. Compare and contrast the Loving Kindness exercise and the Subtle mind exercise. Explain your experience including the benefits, frustrations etc.
The subtle mind exercise I found to be very much of a useful tool as much as the loving-kindness exercise. Each one allowed the mind to try to mediate and become more focus on what changes are going on between the mind and body. Where I can say they differ is that the loving-kindness exercise wanted the individual to respect and understand that you must love everyone for yourself to feel loved. Now with the the subtle mind exercise, the idea was make the individual understand that many changes can happen mentally and physically if one would let their minds be clear, at peace, and still for all pollutants around the individual.
2. Discuss the connection of the spiritual wellness to mental and physical wellness. Explain how the connection is manifested in your personal life.
Great question. When I think of the spiritual wellness to mental and physical wellness, I must first understand why this connection must exist. I believe that for a person to gave complete wellness, one must be in tune with their inner mental status and try to allow this status to remain clear from negative thoughts and behaviors. If one can keep the mental clear the spiritual and physical aspects will fall into place. Now, if one allows their spiritual to suffer then the mental and physical will began to suffer. It is like a car. If the engine which is the mind of the car is not working, how can the car move. All things must work together for complete and healthy function to take place.
Hello Wanda.
ReplyDeleteI am so agree with you about importance of mental and physical connection. But man, what a hard task! I have never thought about this kind of stuff before; mental, physical, spiritual, so complicated. Now it finally begins to make a since to me. When I am emotionally unwell, I am not feeling soon god physically. Go figure! I just keep on discovering new things about myself every day. Fascinating! Thank you for sharing and good luck with your discoveries!
Svetlana.
Hi Wanda, I love your analogy of the car, that is right on, all parts of the car has to work properly for the car to run right. If I use bad oil, water, or gas the engine of the car will suffer for it, soon I will have no car, or I will have to invest a lot of money or time in the car to have it working again. If my mind is filled with loving-kindness towards all people, I will be at peace, healthy and whole, If i am filled with resentment, bitterness, and hate I will be tormented, my heart, blood flow, and bodily function will definitely suffer for it.
ReplyDeleteGood post.
Hi Wanda, I enjoyed your post. I like how you compared spiritual health to a car. The engine must work before the car will move. It is true that we must have a working mind in order to experience the benefits of positive physical health. I do wish that acquiring optimal health wasn't so difficult to achieve, but understand that all great things take time and commitment.
ReplyDeleteLaWanda,
ReplyDeleteI never thought about our wellness as a car before but I loved IT. I thought it was great and it is so true. If we do not fuel our body spiritually, mentally, and physically then we will not go very far. Every now and again we need to go in for a tune up.

Hi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteYour car anaolgynis wonderful andyou are right if all of the parts are not functioning properly the car will not run properly. Just as with a car we have to work on all of our parts to keep them running optimally and reach total health.
