Unit 9 Final Project

I Introduction:

Why is it important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically? What areas do you need to develop to achieve the goals you have for yourself?

It is important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically due to I believe in order to treat clients on all levels of healing, one must be able to practice and express what they have experience with.  How can one teach if they have never experienced the aspects of the whole body connection?  I believe I need to develop in both areas of psychologically and spiritually.  I tend to stress and cause myself distraction in my life, which then leads to a spiritual disconnection.  I must learn to lean on my spiritual growths to help with my psychological challenges.

II Assessment:

How have you assessed your health in each domain? How do you score your wellness spiritually, physically, and psychologically?
I have assessed my health in each domain as being an eight.  This leaves room for improvement.  What I know is that I am not perfect, even though I tried to make things around me perfect, I must pick my battles.  In addition, I have implemented a physical exercise and prayer into my daily life and this has helped with my health.  I would score my wellness spiritually an eight, physically and eight, and psychologically an eight.

III Goal development:

List at least one goal you have for yourself in each area, Physical, Psychological (mental health) and Spiritual.
My goal for my physical is to be able to increase my workout to five days a week instead of three.  My goal for my psychological is to mediate and not allow less important things to clutter my mind, allow my mind to become still during parts of the day.  My spiritual goal would be to dedicate more of my time to serving God and do the things he has designed me to do.

IV Practices for personal health:

What strategies can you implement to foster growth in each of the following domains; Physical, Psychological, and Spiritual. Provide at least two examples of exercises or practices in each domain. Explain how you will implement each example.

The strategies I can implement to foster growth in my physical domain would be to exercise regularly.  To do this I can increase my exercise days from three to five and park the car further from the entrance door and walk.  The strategies I can implement to foster growth in my psychological domain would be to pick my battles and calm my mind.  The ways I can do this is practice breathing and visualization exercises.  The strategies I can implement to foster growth in my spiritual domain would be to allow for change and connection.  The ways I can do this is to allow time from prayer during my day and do the things God has implemented in the bible for those to do to live a more wholly life.

V Commitment:

How will you assess your progress or lack of progress in the next six months? What strategies can you use to assist in maintaining your long-term practices for health and wellness?
To assess my progress or lack of progress in the next six months would be to look at what I do on a daily basis.  In addition, I will make a goal plan sheet and keep track on the progress or lack of progress that I have made.  I will make sure that my goals are realistic and if they are not allow room for changes in my goals I set out for myself.

The two exercise I plan to implement into my personal life to foster mental fitness is loving-kindness and subtle mind.  The way I plan to implement these activities into my personal life is by having respect for others and what each person believes of them self.  How the will power to pray for equal love and peace for all of my brothers and sisters in the entire world in my daily prayers.  Focus more attention away from myself and allow more concerns of the world to become more of my attention.  I can allow myself to clear my mind of the worldly pollution and allow my mind to become still during a process of meditation during 5 minutes in the morning and in the evening.  Pray daily for my higher power to allow peace with-in my entire being and allow my mind to be filled with peace.

Unit 7 Blog Exercise

Describe the saying: "One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself (P.477) How does this apply to the health and wellness professional? Do you have an obligation to your clients to be developing your health psychologically, physically, and spiritually? Why or why not? How can you implement psychological and spiritual growth in your personal life?

When I think of the saying "One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself", I can describe that as how can the blind lead the blind.  I think of this statement as I think of one with and with out experience.  One who has experienced a certain situation can educate the next on how to over come the same situation being experienced by a person.  It is like a mother and child.  She will educate her child on what to do and not do from past experiences that she experienced in her life.  This applies to health and wellness profession as if the educator has experienced the affects of stress and integral health, this person can educate others how to over come stress and achieve integral health.  Yes I do have an obligation to my clients to develop my health on all levels.  If any aspect of my health becomes seriously imbalanced I can make mistakes with others financial stability which in turn with under develop their health.  I can implement psychological and spiritual growth in my personal life my praying more and allowing things that I cannot control not take over my mental which then will affect my entire being.
